It had been a long time since Sonya had seen lands so quiet and peaceful. In the pre-dawn light everything seemed to be holding its breath as it waited for the sun to illuminate the world in its full glory. The dense, towering forests of Avalon were know throughout the world but Sonya had never imagined someday she'd actually call it home. It was rather amusing to watch from the brush as a small silver she-wolf picked her way clumsily down narrow paths carved by time through the timeless trees. Smoky grey fog curled around her light paws as she moved, occasionally catching her paw on a tree root or stepping noisily in a puddle. Sonya was known for being clumsy and it wasn't exactly something she liked about herself. Then again, there was very little she liked about herself. She was too shy, too weak, too noisy, too clumsy...too much of a hindrance to those she was around.
Ears laying back agianst her head with that thought, Sonya crested a hill and paused to look down at the small valley of woodlands awaiting the morning light. Her dark brown eyes scanned the undergrowth but found neither prey nor packmates. Making her way slowly down the steep side of the hill, Sonya was far from graceful. Pebbles and small rocks rolled under her paws, skidding away down the hill through small piles of falling autumn leaves. Her claws left small gouges in the dew-softened mud because she kept sliding. Her positioning was awkward as she tried to navigate down the steep slope without hitting a tree.
Once again for the umpteenth time in her life, Sonya failed.
Her front right paw stepped on several dew-slicked leaves and her balance was gone. The world spun and tilted and Sonya was aware of smacking her muzzle sharply on the ground while tumbling unceremoniously down the hill, rolling all the way down. Everything around her became a blur of continuous color, darkened by the lack of light but heightened by her normal wolf night sight. When it came to stopping, Sonya had no way of stopping her tumble so Mother Nature decided to do it for her.
Hitting a tree is far from pleasant but Sonya was used to unpleasant things. She hit the tree, soft underbelly first. All the air was forced out of her lungs, dark brown eyes snapping open and a strange half yelp, half whimper escaped her muzzle. Sonya slumped against the relatively small tree and remained perfectly still. Why was she even in this valley to begin with? Why did she even try anymore when she knew solo hunting trips always went wrong? Everything always went wrong for her. She was too weak to stop them. Just like her mother used to tell her, she was nothing but a parasite, unable to live without taking life from something else. That thought brought a soft whimper from Sonya as she moved slowly, curling up at the base of the tree and trying to stay as till as possible and make herself invisible, trying to will the fog to swallow her whole so she wouldn't have to face another packmate after her embarrassing tumble.

This land was unlike his. It was so serene, so quiet and calm with nothing to disturb the peace in the morning. Though he loved his old land, nothing could beat this spectacular valley. In the horizon, the sun was peaking, or trying to anyway, over the hills to light up the chilled morning. No longer would darkness plague the land, but it would shine with a brilliant array of colors when the sun falls on the autumn leaves. A small and quaint stream moved lazily downhill, its waters crystal clear and cold. A single leaf falls into it, dragging it away from the place it had grown.
There, in front of that stream was Kohl, his dark figure casting a large shadow, hindering any and all reflection except of course, his eyes. Eyes that seemed to stare back at him, mocking him for what he was, what he could do reminding him of his restless sleeps. It had been another one of those nights, he couldn’t stop himself from leaving his body, dancing around in the dreams of others forced to see what they say. One however was particularly gruesome, one that was leaving him with nightmares. What made it even worse was it took place in his old lands, so he knew it was his sister, Shadow Paw’s dream. He shivered at that fact. This power of his was a sin in his eyes, so horrible. All it could do was bring him pain and sadness. Many hated him for it, saying he was going to enter their dreams purposely and find out all about them and use it against them. No, he wouldn’t, he could never defile someone like that though he knew at times it was necessary.
Still, he sat there with his gaze on the water, slowly following the leaf until it was out of sight. His long tail swayed side to side slowly, just like the water, and eventually the tip slid into the water. Once the tip of his tail entered the water and he flicked it, hundreds of ripples were created, distorting his image and disturbing the peace. Suddenly he was angry, a realization coming over him as he saw the monster he was in the hideously distorted reflection, his rage rising he sliced through the water with his paw with all his might, trying to kill it but to no avail. He could not kill his appearance. By now he should have been used to it, been used to the appearance given to him by his father, his b*stard of a dead who took advantage of his mom and ruined her life.
He knew he shouldn’t be thinking about it, about his past, his old life, this is where he was to start over but this time he would start over right. As fast as his anger came to him it ceased as if it had never happened. Instead his mind was full of yesterday’s events and how he was now a member of this pack, and the two females who reminded him so much of his sister, and the revival of his secret. Black nose twitched and red ears swiveled. Another was near, but making a strange noise. Kohl began to run, his rhythmic pace could not be taken in this forest for too many things got in his way so he had to take it steady.
What he saw shocked him when he finally found the source. A wolf, a small and dark female wolf was tumbling down a hill, her body heading straight for the path of a tree. Helpless, that was what both of them were at that moment. For that split second he had something in common with someone- helplessness. As much as he wanted to help her, to incept the path she was on and stop her, he knew he couldn’t. To do that meant utter disaster. If he got in her way the force would bring him down too, bringing them both to the tree. And she was helpless as well, not able to stop her decent or change her course. The inevitable was going to happen and neither of them could do a thing.
Once she collided, he heard a thud as he stomach his the trunk of the old tree, her body motionless as she stayed still. His mouth was agape, his paws trudging forward without his permission, his heart beating fast against his chest. She was small in stature, her body lean with muscles, her pelt of eerie whites and grays. Slowly he drew closer and stopped, just staring at her for a moment, wondering if she was truly OK, pure worry on his face. Sure, he didn’t know her but she had the scent of the pack on her; that’s all that mattered. “Miss, miss, are- are you Ok?” he asked, his voice thick with a northern accent, his dark eyes glued to her as he took another step.

Oh whatever spirits kept an eye on the world of wolves seemed so merciless. Turned out that Sonya wasn't as alone as she had thought. Instead, someone had witnessed her rather ungraceful fall. The sound of a thick accented voice made Sonya's head snap up, scrambling away from him out of instinct. She halfway rose to her paws before she caught his scent. Dustin. He smelled like the alphess. He was a packmate. With a sigh, Sonya relaxed a little. Her ears laid back against her head and she looked at the ground, shuffling her paws. "Um yes I'm fine" Sonya assured the big male, her voice soft. The day Sonya raised her voice to anyone would be the day the world ended. "I um hope I didn't scare away any prey you were tracking."
How many times had Sonya's clumsiness startled a deer from the undergrowth or scared off hordes of rabbits? Too many times to count. More often then not when that happened, there were others hunting in the area that were angry that she'd scared off the prey they'd been stalking. Better to apologize now and just hope he wasn't one of the pack wolves that had a temper or leaned toward grouchy like several wolves she'd met in the past.
Heaving herself to her paws, Sonya winced faintly. She was sure a bruise would be spreading along her side under her fur from here she'd hit the tree but no need for this male to know that. It was her own fault and no need to hinder anyone else with her little aches and pains. At least she hadn't broken anything or twisted a paw. Then that would have been ten times worse. Glancing up at the male, Sonya was faintly flustered to notice she was roughly half his size. She was small by female standards for a wolf. Usually it only added to her keen ability to make herself unnoticed but sometimes it was a little irritating. Sonya pushed the thought away. The fact this male was bigger just meant he was stronger and better, probably having other things to do rather then chase after her just because she'd taken a little bit of a fall.
Glancing behind the male, Sonya's ears flicked back when she saw just how far she'd fallen. Glancing behind her, the grey-white femme flicked her ears again, suddenly quite thankful for the tree considering her fall could have been potentially deadly or had worse injury. Going to take a step forward, the fae winced as pain flared in her front leg. Looking down Sonya saw a relatively small gash on her foreleg. Ignoring it, Sonya looked up at Kohl again. "Um....sorry to waste your time just because I'm clumsy" Sonya murmured, dipping her head to him, blushing under her fur and very glad to have fur to hide it. She'd heard tales from the elders of animals that had no fur and when they were embarrassed they would turn red or something along those lines.

"Um yes I'm fine. I um hope I didn't scare away any prey you were tracking."
He watched her for a moment, his ears ringing with her soft voice. Why him though, why was he picked to find her? She had mentioned something though, something are prey? Oh no, she had had it all wrong, he hadn't been hunting. He had been in solitude, listening to the silence. Ah nature, so beautiful, perfect... so flawless and full of surprise, never know what to expect. As he looked at her he smiled warmly, "Oh no Mi'Lady, I had not been hunting. Actually, I was just sitting... Sitting and listening, watching the world go by."
As the white-gray female brought herself to her paws he could see her wince. That, was something he knew all too well. Everyone would always try to entice him into battles and when he refused he was more often attacked than left alone. So many bones have been broken, so many bruises, so many scars mentally, emotionally, and physically though you'd have to look hard to see what remains. From her impact he was sure that would hurt for a while and there was a possibility for bruising but he stayed silent, his eyes simmering like a warm and cozy, inviting fire.
Once the gray female stood he was able to get a good look at her, his eyes scanning every part of her body. What stood out the most to him was their size difference. There he was, towering above her like some giant and than she, petite and lithe, only coming to his shoulders. Something that he was used to, he was larger than most and he was used to smaller wolves; his sister was even smaller than her. Inhaling deeply he could sense Dustins' scent on her so he knew she was in the pack. A wave of emotions his him as she staggered slightly, a gash on her front leg hindering her movement of it, not able to support weight. Paws moved forward, bringing him closer to her.
"Um....sorry to waste your time just because I'm clumsy"
She lowered her head so she was looking at the ground and so that he could no longer see her face. Why? He didn't no nor would he ever understand. "Do not say such things. You are not wasting my time nor do I think you are clumsy. That hill was steep and the rocks were probably loose. Do not blame yourself." Clumsy, why did she think she was clumsy? Any wolf could have fallen or tripped on that hill. Something in his brain clicked and he remembered he had not spoken his name nor had he asked for her. Wow, so much for being polite. To him conversation went much better when you knew how to address each other. "By the way, Miss, I am Kohl. What is the name I may call you by?" He asked gently, not wanting her to shy away. In a way he was intrigued, sure the other two females were pretty, but they reminded him too much of his sister. This female in front of him was the first he had seen that didn't remind him of her, a female where she was all pitch black and there was something about that...
Prey, she had spoken of prey. "If I may ask, were you going hunting?" He couldn't help but ask. If she said yes he would most likely bound into the forest and catch her something. There was no way he would allow her to run with a wound. Sure he didn't know her but it was just his nature, the way he was. He couldn't turn away from anyone. As he waited for a reply he smiled warmly, his gaze held on her bowed head.

Sonya flicked her tail at Kohl's words as if physically dismissing them. This male obviously didn't know her well which was probably because of her shyness. She was always tripping over her own paws, tripping on other things or running into other wolves. Sonya always felt like her paws were too big or too heavy. Most wolves could move majestically and gracefully. Nope, not Sonya. She was always making a fool of herself in some way in front of someone. In any case, Sonya didn't expect the male to stick around, despite how courteous he may seem. To her surprise however, Sonya found him asking for her name which was a bit surprising. She looked up at him, debating whether he was seriously asking her name. Apparently he seemed serious enough. "My name is Sonya" she consented at last.
Shifting her wounded limb slightly, Sonya struggled not to wince but instead to hide the bloodied wound. His next words surprised her a bit, not only in their content but also because he had yet to walk off and leave her to her pathetic limping in an attempt of a hunt. Oh well, might as well try to be nice. She wasn't exactly a social wolf unless it involved some dark rouge trying to take advantage of her or use her to meet some other horrid end. Old memories coasted through Sonya's mind in a half a heartbeat. Recoiling a very little bit, Sonya forced herself to meet Kohl's eyes.
"Um well I was" she admitted. "But after all my screw ups I doubt anything is nearby anymore."
Under his intense gaze, Sonya wanted to evaporate. Really something in his gaze made it seem like he was studying her, as if looking for someone else in her, someone that didn't exist. Squirming a bit, Sonya tried to think of a quick escape. "I'll probably head to the caverns to hunt so I won't get in your way." Dipping her head quickly like an omega to an alpha, Sonya tried to make her escape but sadly her wounded limb wasn't willing to cooperate. Instead of giving her somewhat of a dignified step, her wounded leg all but gave out. With a sharp yelp of pain as she slid forward and nearly tumbled nose over tail before she was able to brace her good leg against a small boulder hidden in the autumn leaves.

"My name is Sonya"
There, now they knew each other’s names. To him, conversations flowed much better when you knew the other’s name so you weren’t calling each other, “Sir, Ma’am, Miss, brute…” and so on. That, and it was polite to ask plus she was a pack mate so it was wise to ask as well. Sonya however, was a nice name. He had never heard it before, that and Kiki, not Dustin’s though.
Sonya seemed to be shifting her weight, causing her to have to move her wounded limb to hide the blood. Why though, would she hide it? He knew it was there- so what it was no big deal to him. Accidents happen. Dark brown, that was all he saw when she lifted her head to look at him. She even looked directly into his very own eyes! His eyes were so dark and full of a fiery passion, so dark and yet bright. Hers, Sonya’s, were a deep rich color, a beautiful brown. There was a word for that color- chocolate, but he couldn’t use that word because frankly, he didn’t know it. They captivated him and he couldn’t help but gaze back into them for what seemed like forever until he looked down at his massive paws.
Good thing his fur was there, he would blush if he could. Yes I know, weird but he couldn’t help it, she was too unique.
"Um well I was” She told him in her soft voice. "But after all my screw ups I doubt anything is nearby anymore. I'll probably head to the caverns to hunt so I won't get in your way."
Ah, so she had been hunting after all! Ah, but she was most likely wrong on the second part of her statement. This forest was big and with all the trees, moss and foliage around any loud noises would be softened by it, dulling anything. Something must be out there, he thought half-heartedly, his mind wandering as he gazed at his paws only to look up and see Sonya’s gray head bowing. Bowing? He was no Alpha nor was he a Beta. He was a warrior, simple as that. He held no power in the pack he was just a fighter and a protector.
For a moment he did not understand what she was doing, moving, trying to get up. Didn’t she know her wound was like a handicap until it healed? Apparently she didn’t either that, or she wanted to get away from him. He guessed the later of the two. Red ears twitched as Sonya yelped in pain, her body sliding once more under gravity’s will, unable to stop herself. Kohl rose, wanting to come to her aid but he could see she braced herself on something.
A strange look of caginess crept over him, suddenly aware that Sonya could be hurt more. In a few quick, but ugly and un-majestic movements he reached her, his body towering. Lowering himself he looked at her, his eyes still warm, and nudged her softly with his muzzle. “Sonya,” he asked, truly caring, truly wanting to be sure she was OK, “Sonya, are you Ok? You are nut hurt anymore are you?”

Sonya knew she had pale fur, always had. She wouldn't be surprised if it was going scarlet because of the blood rushing through her veins, heating her skin under her pale pelt. Kohl actually came to help her and was asking if she was ok. That was an odd thing Sonya had never adjusted to with other wolves. They asked and made sure everyone was ok. With Sonya's mother, the fae had been disappointed when Sonya would return from being lost or prove to be more durable then she thought. It was disheartening to know she had been such a bother to her own mother that the fae would hope she died of some illness or simply went off and didn't come back. Well, to ease her mother's unhappiness Sonya had done just that. It was simply what she did. She would answer the unasked questions, meet unmentioned demands even if it meant she got in trouble or got hurt along the way. Others stepping on her wasn't new but concern was. Months with the Avalon wolves and she still wasn't used to it.
"I'm fine" Sonya murmured, ducking her head sheepishly. Why was she always such a bother? "Don't bother yourself with me, I'm just clumsy. I slipped again, that's all." Her words were spoken quickly though softly, her embarrassment showing through in her speech.
Her foreleg throbbed with her heartbeat and she was sure she'd probably banged up her paw but Sonya wouldn't bother Kohl with that. He had more important things to worry about. It was probably in her head anyway, just ignore the pain and it would go away, she'd be fine. Write if off as clumsiness, blame wet leaves. Anything to keep from admitting her own physical weakness in front of others. On her own Sonya was honest with herself about her weakness and her runty size. Around others, it was always coincidence that she slid or tripped or fell, never some sprained limb or cut. Let others think she wasn't quite so delicate, then she could hide herself away for a while and wait for things to heal. This time however, it seemed that Kohl wouldn't let her get away so easily. She could feel his intense gaze burning her fur and quickly ducked her head again, muzzle brushing the grass as she rather akwardly laid down to avoid putting any pressure on the bruise on her side. She'd wait for him to leave. He was like everyone else right? He'd get bored and leave soon right?

"I'm fine. Don't bother yourself with me, I'm just clumsy. I slipped again, that's all.”
Kohl watched soberly as she kept ducking her head, as the air around them was silent expect for the weight of her words that hung in the air. At that moment a pain struck him, a realization washing over him. He wasn’t wanted around, loners didn’t want him around, and his old pack didn’t want him around. Now she too was dismissing him as if he was nothing but a pain, or a sore. None accepted him. Being so caught up in his thoughts he did not notice the embarrassment held in her tone.
For a long moment he closed his eyes, shielding them from having to look at her, from revealing his feelings that he was feeling right now. He heard a slight noise from in front of him and he figured it was Sonya lying down so she could rest. “Don't bother yourself…?” He repeated out loud, still thinking she wished for him to be gone. Suddenly determination flowed through him. He would get her to accept him! Yes, that is what he would do. He would do all he could to get her to understand him, to know what he was coming from, to get her to think he was needed.
“No.” he finally said softly, his eyelids lifting as he glanced at her, his eyes softer now, less intense. “You are injured- that is not fine. Me being bothered by you- that is not fine. I wish to help you Sonya, truly I do. However, you have to let me.” Slowly he backed away from her before sitting, casting his glance at this paws.
Whether she wanted him around or not was solely up to her but even if she said she wanted him to leave he would hunt for her quickly so she had food. Sonya said she had been hunting anyway, right? No harm could come from bringing her a meal, right? Right now though he had backed away because he wanted to give her space and time to think without being pressured.
Ooc:: Sorry it isn’t very well written, I have been short on time still but I’d figure I’d post something rather than have nothing for you at all.

Dark chocolate orbs blinked once, twice, a third time. She couldn't really help but stare at Kohl. His tone had been determined, almost fierce but why? It wasn't like she was an alphess or anyone important. For two or three heartbeats all she could do was stare at the big dark male, trying to figure out why he would bother with concerning himself with her minor matters. Surely he had better things to do then wait on her? "Why?" Sonya blurted before she could stop herself, curiosity getting the better of her. Catching herself, Sonya ducked her head again and stared at her paws laid out in front of her. In a softer voice the fae continued, "why are you so concerned with me? I'm just a klutzy fae. I've never been any good to anyone, what can I do to repay you for your help?"
Sonya had spent years under the invisible weight of abusive words from her mother, silent glares and mutterings from strangers. Any skills she may have had, had been compressed and tossed aside by low self-esteem. Her dreams were wistful but she didn't hope for any of them to come true. She was born a looser, never meant to win at the game called life. At best Sonya considered herself a step for others to push themselves up, pass her on the social ladder and keep climbing. What could she give Kohl that a more skilled fae couldn't? Sure she was old enough to breed but she refused anything of the sort from a male she didn't know.
If Kohl hunted for her or something while her leg healed, Sonya could pay him back with a kill of her own though it would be small. She never had the guts to take on a deer, whether with another or alone. Sonya kept to rabbits because her small frame and light body weight made it easier to chase them over long distances. If he tried to heal her wounds, Sonya wouldn't be able to heal him if he got in a fight, she simply didn't know how. It wasn't like Sonya was someone special with qualities worth saving or preserving. She was a clumsy warrior that would die in her first battle.
Raising her gaze, Sonya met Kohl's gaze, trying to find an answer. Why did he care? No one else ever had. They'd simply let her stumble on her way.

"Why? Why are you so concerned with me? I'm just a klutzy fae. I've never been any good to anyone, what can I do to repay you for your help?"
At first he stayed silent, her words haunting his mind as he glanced at her, his gaze meeting her chocolate eyes before looking into the forest. She wanted an answer, an answer he couldn’t give because in all honesty, he didn’t know. Maybe, maybe he had always been like this, maybe not. Flustered he became, his mind trying to work out words to say to her; her words like a riddle. “I am concerning myself right now because, Sonya, you are a pack member, a wolf, a living creature. I guess you could say I am also kind to all.” pausing slightly he glanced at her before simply stating, “Nothing.” nothing, he would accept no repayment. “I will accept nothing as repayment from you unless forced. What I do, I do from my heart; I do not help others for personal gain. Now, wait here.”
With that he was off, his large body swaying as his paws moved in time with his body, his mind on Sonya, secretly hoping she would stay where she was. Even if she left, he would run after her and make sure she was OK, and that wherever she was going she got there safely. Clearing his mind Kohl glanced around, his nose twitching for the smell of rabbits, voles, deer, and anything else he could catch. Nothing.
’d**n! There has to be something around here I don’t want to go fa-‘
He would never get to finish his though for the smell of a young stag slapped him in his face. Yes, a small stag would do nicely for Sonya, and if it was large than for the both of them but his main concern was getting food into her stomach, not his. Plus, he always felt better after he ate, so why should Sonya or any other wolf be any different? There! He caught a glimpse of a white tail and started to follow….
** Moments later **
Blood flowed so easily from the soft fleshy tissue of the stag, tainting all around that lay around it. A cry of pain and anguish arose into the air from the dying creature. Its heart was strong and it wasn't giving up easily- just like its predator wanted. The hunter did not want it to be over quickly and painlessly, no the hunter would rather toy with it, watch it struggle to hold onto life to stay in the pathetic world of the living. For some reason or another, the stag running and crying out, urged the hunter, Kohl, on faster and faster at its heels. A whirl-wind of dead and fallen leaves was created as the two figures ran along a path which was being splattered in crimson blood.
Long and sharp talons clicked in a continues rhythm as they kept hitting the stone underneath the creature doing the pursuing. A long, thick, and fluffy tail swayed behind the hunter in satisfaction and eagerness. Voids of fire, which held no emotion at that time, stared relentlessly at its fleeing target. Everything in the world didn't matter anymore, it was just he and the stag and he was going to win for that was the way of life; predator and prey. Thick and well-muscled legs of a large and some-what lean black and red brute, bent back and locked like a loaded spring. Instantly, that spring was unlocked, sending the wolf arching into the air above a struggling creature. The stag buckled under him, not able to bare his great and abnormal weight.
Lethal weapons hit home; directly into the neck. A lovely red liquid flowed now from both neck and hindquarters and in Kohl’s mind, this creature would make a great meal. Feeling sorry for the thrashing deer, he ended it with one malicious bite to the airway. Suddenly, dark brown pupils rolled back leaving only the whites of the eyes visible. As Kohl dragged the stag towards Sonya, he bumped into a large bush and almost howled in excitement. An Alder bush! Yes, that would do nicely for they subdued pain and lowered swelling. Grasping onto two large branches, digging his claws into the ground fur support, and yanked. It was a struggle but finally he got two nice big branches that held the greenest leaves.
After a good ten minutes Kohl came back to where he had left Sonya, carrying both the stag and branches, hoping she was there.

Kohl's words seemed to ring in Sonya's ears as the bigger male padded off to search the forest for prey. For a few moments, Sonya simply stared after him, watching the plants sway with his passing before covering the track he'd taken, leaves crackling lightly. In all honesty Sonya could think of no real reply to this odd accented male. He was unlike anyone she'd met or seen in all her years, even when she'd wondered as a loner. Sonya shifted slightly trying to find a comfortable position without pressure on her side. She wasn't sure how to take Kohl. He cared for her just because she was a packmate. She hadn't had to prove her worth or anything of the sort with him. He simply accepted her. It was...odd.
Curling her pale limbs under her soft underbelly, wincing slightly as her cut grazed the ground, Sonya settled herself in a small ball resting against the boulder. If someone looked at her, it would take a moment to realize a wolf was laying beside the bolder because the fur along her back was various shades of grey. The sun was starting to dip lower, offering shadows to protect the injured femmora from any wanna-be predators or ill-wishers. Sonya tucked her head down, ears laying back against her head and chocolate eyes sliding closed as the gloom began it's slow spread along the hillside. Her tail flipped up to curl around her hind legs so she looked like a ball of fluff beside hard stone.
It was the rattling crunch of dry undergrowth and breaking branches that stirred Sonya's mind sometime later. Slowly the femme blinked her dark eyes open and found herself staring at the small mossy boulder she'd curled up next to. Purpling shadows were curling around her, the trees shading her and the temperature slightly cooler then before. Sonya heard something being dragged across the ground and quietly inhaled. Deer blood was the first scent to assault her nose, waking her hungry stomach with a grumble. The second scent was similar to the nearby stale scent; Kohl. Though Sonya relaxed slightly she didn't uncurl from her little ball of fur. Her leg felt stiff and swollen under her body, her bruised side aching dully. In all honestly she didn't really want to move, food or no food though it was very tempting. Instead, Sonya simply stared at the boulder, wondering if Kohl would notice she was awake.

Dragging the carcass over the harden ground, Kohl glanced up to look at the setting of the glowing sun that would soon give way to the beauty of the night. Night, something to be cherished, for the stars and the moon used to be his only friends. Now though, maybe he would make a friend out of Sonya, for maybe she'd accept him and not look at him like a beast who could only destroy. Grunting Kohl heaved the heavy meat over a large fallen log, his jaws straining to keep hold of both the food and the plant that could help ease pain and swelling.
Once he got it over the log and he continued into the wanning darkness his mind jumped around. Yes, she had to be there, right? He was hoping inside Sonya was, especially after the feat of trying to bring the food back to her. As soon as he found the spot they had been before it took him a moment to find her curled up next to a boulder, her body seeming so small. For a moment he just watched her and the rising and falling of her sides as she breathed. A wave of relief fell over him as he dropped his burden onto the ground next to her, his eyes searching to see if she was awake or not.
Finally he deemed her awake for he saw her move and her eyes blink. He approached slowly and nudged her slightly, “I have brought you food as well as Alder leaves which, helps with pain and swelling if you eat them.” his voice was low and full of as much kindness as he could muster, not wanting to scare her for he wasn't sure if she knew he was there or not but she probably smelt him though he wasn't taking chances. Looking towards the meal he got for her he ripped of a reasonable amount that one could fit in the mouth without much trouble and dropped it in reach of her muzzle along with some Alder leaves before stepping back to wait.
-{Sorry it was so short, I have lack of muse right now. -_-}-

Sonya felt a twinge of guilt in her gut as she listened to Kohl struggling with the deer carcass as he hauled it toward her. Really she should get up and help him, a little added strength was better then none but something told her no. Her limbs were stiff, her fur felt hot and her injured leg felt swollen from the time she'd fallen asleep. She was reluctant to move but knew she must regardless of the pain in her wounded limb. It wasn't anything she didn't deserve anyway, she'd messed up and that was the cost so now she'd just have to deal. Kohl's gentle touch awoke her not from sleep but from thought. Blinking once the dark-eyed she-wolf turned her head to look back at Kohl looming over her like one of the night's darkest shadows. It took a moment for her to shake away the slight fear of him. He was so large and powerful he could easily kill her but something in his gaze and his voice told her he never would.
Taking heart in the gentle-voiced brute, Sonya reached for the plant he had brought and pulled it a bit closer, sniffing the leaves. She knew nothing of healing or herbs and roots so all she could really do was take his word that this wouldn't kill her. Deciding to trust her earlier instinct that he wouldn't hurt her, Sonya nipped off a few of the larger, healthy leaves and chewed them carefully. The taste was strange but not unbearable. Swallowing the herbs, Sonya looked up at Kohl.
"Thank you" she said in her soft voice, meeting his gaze and offering a small shy smile.
Looking down at the meat, Sonya sniffed it as well. It smelled odd, not poisoned or rotted but simply not right. Frowning slightly, Sonya poked the meat with her muzzle and sniffed it again. Her stomach rolled and Sonya winced. All she had eaten had been the leaves but even those had tasted and smelled odd, not clean like most herbs did. Looking down at her limbs tucked against her pale underbelly, Sonya slowly, painfully, unfolded her wounded limb trying not to wince.
The leg itself was puffy, seeming to throb with her heartbeat. As for the cut it looked red and inflamed. Bowing her head, Sonya tried to groom the wound, hoping infection hadn't set in too deeply but jerked back as pain shot up her leg. Why did these things always happen to her?
Glancing at Kohl and hoping he hadn't seen, Sonya tried to tuck her leg back where it had been and looking at the ground, waiting for some sort of rant on how idiotic she was at not bandaging the wound some how or something of the sort.
